Welcome to Integrated Healing

Psychology and Somatic Experiencing Therapy

Nicole Thorn, Ph.D.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over 10 years of experience. I specialize in integrated, holistic personal and psychological healing. I use a relational, egalitarian, interactive approach to psychotherapy that includes personal empowerment, somatic experiencing and somatic mindfulness, attachment theory, the neuroscience of psychological healing, communication, exploration of family systems, and trauma recovery.  As a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner, I utilize the experiences of both the body and mind to help facilitate the therapeutic process.  I work with adults, teens and college students, couples, and families.

What To Expect

It can be tremendously valuable to have a supportive, empathic, caring person to explore the various external and internal factors that are contributing to the challenges we may be facing.  Personal discovery and growth is one of life's greatest challenges but also provides one of life's greatest rewards. As a therapist, my job is to help you navigate this journey.

What is Somatic Experiencing Therapy?

Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a naturalistic form of healing that will help you learn how to settle and release physiological activation from your body.  Very often this process helps people to reduce stress and return to a sense of regulation and mastery in their lives.  SE will support you in learning how to attend to uncomfortable sensations in your body and gently unwind them through your conscious attention.  SE is particularly useful in managing stress because so many of the symptoms are physiological.  If you would like to read more about SE, visit our website at www.traumahealing.com or read In an Unspoken Voice by Dr. Peter Levine.
